May 2017 Tips - Keyboard Shortcuts

Keyboard Shortcuts

There are times when you may need or want to copy and paste text from various fields in the RMS. Perhaps a piece of text was accidentally deleted from a field, and you want to restore it. Windows has a few built in keyboard shortcuts that may help save you time.

Copy (Ctrl + C)

To copy text that you wish to move, first select the text by highlighting it, and then press the Ctrl and C keys at the same time (A). This will copy the text to the computer's clipboard.

Paste (Ctrl + V)

Once you have text copied to the clipboard, use your mouse to place the cursor where you want the copied text and press the Ctrl and V keys at the same time (A).

Undo (Ctrl + Z)

Occasionally, when attempting to edit a narrative or other field in the RMS, you might inadvertently delete or edit needed text. If you haven't closed the module, you may be able to revert these changes with the Undo command. Simply press the Ctrl and Z keys at the same time and the system will attempt to revert the last change made in the text field (A).

Tips:

  • The ability to Copy is limited to areas where you can highlight the text. If the text is able to be highlighted, you should be able to copy it with Ctrl+C.

  • The ability to Paste, and Undo are limited to the 'Free Text' fields of the RMS.
